SlickText alternatives, and the safeguards to rebuild when you leave
6 alternatives and the baseline7-item switch checklistVendor claims read 2026-10-22
For the owner or marketer who texts customers from SlickText and is weighing a move. SlickText does several compliance jobs quietly: it reads plain-word opt-outs, appends a compliance line to every welcome text, answersHELP and forces double opt-in on forms. A new tool may do none of that until you set it up. Below, SlickText and six alternatives on the nine texting rows, then a checklist of what to rebuild and the gaps a switch can close. Every vendor page was read on 2026-10-22; more side-by-sides sit in the comparisons index.
Verdict by use case
Best overall
It keeps what SlickText does best, a reader that opts out replies like "remove me", and switches it on by default. It adds what SlickText's pages do not show: a consent timestamp you can export and campaign quiet hours checked per recipient.
Best for Shopify stores
Its opt-out screen catches "take me off this list" and "wrong number", and no number joins without a confirmed reply or on-site code. Campaigns and automations wait for waking hours where each subscriber is.
Best for a local number and keywords
The closest match to SlickText's keyword-and-campaign shape, with an opt-in date and source on every contact and 10DLC registration inside the app. Plan to read the inbox for plain-word opt-outs yourself.

Seven tools, nine texting rows
The rows are the texting requirements every page in the Texting pillar uses, from the FCC's rule (47 CFR § 64.1200) and CTIA's messaging guidelines. Here they run in the order a SlickText user feels them: the four jobs SlickText does for you first, then the four its own pages leave open or answer "No", then do-not-call scrubbing. SlickText is the first column; "Our pick" marks the best-overall verdict.

What the table says
SlickText is strong on the top four rows and weak on the next four. Only three alternatives match it on the hardest one, catching an opt-out written in plain words: Klaviyo, Omnisend and Postscript, all three built for online stores. Attentive notices those replies but answers by asking the person to text STOP. SimpleTexting and EZ Texting document the fixed reply words only, so a person on your team has to catch the rest. The texting rules guide explains why that matters: the FCC counts any reply a reasonable person would read as a request to stop.
The store platforms also close SlickText's gaps: consent dates on the record and quiet hours by each recipient's clock. None of them documents a US local (10DLC) number: Klaviyo lists none, and Omnisend and Postscript describe toll-free numbers, which is also SlickText's default. If a local number matters to you, SimpleTexting and EZ Texting register one from inside the app (the 10DLC or toll-free guide weighs the two). No vendor's public pages settled do-not-call scrubbing.
Don't lose this when you switch
Seven things SlickText does for you, each read from its own help centre, with the rule that makes it worth keeping and what to set up in the new tool before the first send. Tick each one as it is rebuilt; Print gives you the list on one page. Where a safeguard maps onto a table row, the box under it shows which alternatives document the same.
Rebuilt in the new tool
0 of 7 done
- In SlickText
- Seven reply words always opt the contact out, and Opt-Out Intelligence reads every other inbound text for intent: typos like "st0p", sentences like "please stop messaging me".
- Why keep it
- The FCC rule counts any reply a reasonable person would read as a revocation, not only the seven words it names, and gives you no more than 10 business days to honour it (47 CFR § 64.1200(a)(10)).
- In the new tool
- Turn on the new tool's reader and set it to opt the contact out, not just reply with instructions. With no reader, name one person to read every reply each working day and opt out by hand.

- In SlickText
- Whatever welcome you write, SlickText appends its required compliance wording to every opt-in auto-response, keyword, form or popup alike.
- Why keep it
- CTIA lists five parts for the confirmation: the program name, customer care or HELP, how to opt out, that messages recur and how often, and any fees (§ 5.1.2.1).
- In the new tool
- Rewrite every keyword, form and popup welcome in the new tool with all five parts in your own words, since nothing will be appended for you unless the tool says so.

- A texted HELP gets a reply with a link to your website and your email. It is one of the compliance auto-responses you cannot edit or switch off.
- Why keep it
- CTIA's confirmation calls for customer care contact details or HELP instructions (§ 5.1.2.1).
- In the new tool
- Write the HELP reply with your business name and a way to reach a person, then text HELP to the new number before the first campaign.

- In SlickText
- Sign-ups from web forms and popups sit as Pending until the contact replies YES; Force Double Opt-In extends that to keywords and bulk imports.
- Why keep it
- A confirming reply ties consent to the handset that will get the texts, which keeps a mistyped or malicious number off your list.
- In the new tool
- Switch double opt-in on for every form and popup in the new tool. Where it has none for SMS, put the full disclosure on the form itself and keep a copy of each version.

- Omnisend
- In SlickText
- Once a contact is Unsubscribed, nobody on your team can set them back to Subscribed by hand; Blocked contacts are ignored altogether.
- Why keep it
- CTIA asks senders to keep every opt-in and opt-out on record so no message is attempted after an opt-out (§ 5.1.5).
- In the new tool
- Filter Contacts by status, download the Unsubscribed and Blocked numbers, and import them into the new tool as opted out before anyone else. Attentive's uploader takes opt-ins only; its opt-outs go through Attentive's support team.
- In SlickText
- SlickText offers SMS terms and a privacy policy to adopt as your own: keep its link and the document is SlickText's page. Both must be public when a number is registered.
- Why keep it
- A toll-free or 10DLC registration at the new provider asks for the same terms and privacy links.
- In the new tool
- If your registration still points at SlickText's documents, publish your own on your site before you file with the new provider.
- In SlickText
- SlickText supplies a pre-opt-in compliance statement for every place you advertise texting. It can be fine print, as long as it sits beside the call to action.
- Why keep it
- CTIA's opt-in record includes the language and experience the person saw when they agreed (§ 5.1.2).
- In the new tool
- Replace each flyer, QR code and form with the new number and wording, and file a dated copy of the old and new versions with your consent records.
What a switch can fix
Four rows where SlickText's own pages say "No" or say nothing. These are the reasons to move rather than the risks of moving. Check the first against your own list with the quiet hours checker, and see what 10DLC registration involves before you choose a number type.

SlickText
What it is
An SMS marketing platform for the US and Canada that assigns a free toll-free sending number and registers it from the app, with keywords, web forms, popups, workflows and a shared inbox. Its compliance settings hold the opt-in, opt-out and HELP wording, and its pricing page says every plan carries every feature.
Who it fits
The baseline on this page: the tool you would be moving from.
- Honours STOP and plain-language revocation automaticallyYes
Stop, unsubscribe, remove, cancel, end, quit and opt out always opt the contact out. Opt-Out Intelligence, switched on separately, reads every inbound text for intent; its action can opt the contact out or only reply with instructions.
- Sends the opt-in confirmation (program, HELP, STOP, frequency, rates)Yes
Required compliance wording is always appended to every opt-in auto-response, whichever sign-up tool the contact used.
- HELP auto-replyYes
A HELP reply with a link to your website and your email; it is one of the auto-responses you cannot edit.
- Double opt-in availableYes
Required for web forms and popups; a Force Double Opt-In setting extends it to keywords and bulk imports.
- Records opt-in with a timestamp and the numberCheck with the vendor
Each contact carries an opt-in status and a join source (manual, import or keyword); a stored opt-in time is not described.
- Consent records exportableCheck with the vendor

- Quiet-hours window by the recipient's time zoneNo
Scheduled campaigns deliver on the time zone of the SlickText account, not the recipient's.

Who it fits
Stores that also send email and want the opt-out reader, consent timestamps and per-recipient quiet hours in one place.
- Honours STOP and plain-language revocation automaticallyYes

The default confirmation names your organisation, HELP and STOP, the rates line and that frequency varies.
- HELP auto-replyYes
HELP and INFO get a reply with your organisation name and email.
- Double opt-in availableYes
Set per list and per keyword; a keyword's setting overrides the list's.
- Records opt-in with a timestamp and the numberYes
Each profile shows its SMS consent status, with a timestamp on the consent record.
- Consent records exportableYes
List and segment exports carry email and SMS consent status and the consent timestamp.
- Quiet-hours window by the recipient's time zoneYes
Campaigns check each recipient against quiet hours at send time, then delay or skip the message.
- 10DLC brand and campaign registration in-productNo
No US long code: US texting runs on the default toll-free number or a short code.
- National and state DNC scrubbingCheck with the vendor
Postscript
What it is
An SMS marketing app for Shopify stores. Every number joins through a confirmed reply or an on-site code, and Postscript runs the toll-free number verification for you.
Who it fits

- Honours STOP and plain-language revocation automaticallyYes
Variations on STOP, typos and phrases like "take me off this list" or "wrong number" unsubscribe automatically.
- Sends the opt-in confirmation (program, HELP, STOP, frequency, rates)Yes
After the reply, "You're subscribed! Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help."; the request before it names cart reminders and the rates line.
- HELP auto-replyCheck with the vendor
- Double opt-in availableYes
Confirmed opt-in (reply Y) or Onsite opt-in (a code typed on the page); a number with neither is not added.
- Records opt-in with a timestamp and the numberYes
Each opt-in creates a record of the subscriber's consent that you can use to show they knowingly signed up.
- Consent records exportableCheck with the vendor
- Quiet-hours window by the recipient's time zoneYes
Campaigns and automations triggered in quiet hours wait until waking hours in the subscriber's time zone.

- Sends the opt-in confirmation (program, HELP, STOP, frequency, rates)Check with the vendor
- HELP auto-replyCheck with the vendor

- Records opt-in with a timestamp and the numberYes
A submitted sign-up form adds a TCPA consent record, the phone number and the subscription status to the profile.

- Quiet-hours window by the recipient's time zoneYes
On by default, 8 PM to 8 AM in each recipient's time zone.

Who it fits
Retail programmes that run journeys and want each profile to show when and how a subscriber joined.

How we read the claims
Questions SlickText users ask
Does SlickText's Opt-Out Intelligence opt people out on its own?
Only with the right setting. It is off until you switch it on, and then it offers two actions: "Opt the Contact Out", which unsubscribes the contact and sends your opt-out message, and "Reply with Opt-Out Instructions", which answers but leaves the contact subscribed. It also ignores texts from contacts who are not subscribed. Check which action your account uses before you copy the setup anywhere else: an instructions-only reader is closer to what Attentive does with fuzzy opt-outs than to what Klaviyo, Omnisend and Postscript document.
What does SlickText's pricing page say about features by plan?
That every plan gets every feature, integrations and Workflows included, so none of the compliance tools on this page are held back for a bigger plan. Plan size changes the number of message credits and the help you get: a one-to-one onboarding session from a certain plan size, and a dedicated Customer Success Manager on larger ones. One credit is one 160-character SMS segment to one subscriber, an MMS uses three credits per segment, and carrier fees pass through without markup. The prices themselves are on SlickText's pricing page; when you compare an alternative's plans, check that the plan you would buy carries the rows you need.
Do my subscribers need to opt in again after I leave SlickText?
Not because the software changed. The FCC's written-consent definition is an agreement that authorizes "the seller" to send the messages, so consent sits with your business. CTIA adds that an opt-in should apply only to the campaign and the specific sender it was obtained for. Keep the same business sending the same kind of messages and the consent carries over, as long as you can still prove it. A new kind of message, such as promotions to a list that joined for order updates, needs a new opt-in.
Can I take my SlickText number with me?
Ask before you cancel. SlickText assigns a toll-free number by default and handles porting an existing number in through your representative or support; taking a number out is not described in its help centre, so check with SlickText and with the new provider. Whichever number you send from, the new provider registers it again: toll-free verification or a 10DLC brand and campaign, with your terms and privacy policy links.
Do texts have to go out in the recipient's time zone?
For marketing texts, plan on it. The FCC rule bars telephone solicitations before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m. local time at the called party's location, and it applies to texts to wireless numbers. SlickText schedules campaigns on the account's time zone, though its own article on Texas SB 140 recommends sending marketing only between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. in the recipient's time zone. Several states are stricter: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the recipient's time zone, Monday to Saturday, and noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday clears every state we have read.
Is the opt-out rule about to change?
An FCC order adopted on 2026-09-30 (FCC 26-67) lets a sender name one exclusive way to revoke, such as replying with a standard word, if it is disclosed clearly in the text. It takes effect 30 days after Federal Register publication, and it had not been published when we checked on 2026-10-22, so it is adopted but not yet in effect. Until then the current rule stands: any reasonable method counts, and a revocation must be honoured within 10 business days. Either way, keep the reader on.
