Attentive alternatives, read for quiet hours and opt-outs
5 alternatives against AttentiveVendor claims read 2026-10-22
For an e-commerce or DTC brand on Attentive that is weighing a move: what each alternative does when a scheduled campaign lands at 8:30 p.m. in a subscriber's time zone, what it does with a reply that says "please stop" without the word STOP, and what consent record comes with you. Attentive is the first column, read from its own help centre; five alternatives sit beside it. Every status names the page it came from, read on 2026-10-22. Other texting comparisons sit in the Texting pillar.
Verdict by use case
Best overall for leaving Attentive
It does what Attentive's campaigns do not: a campaign scheduled into quiet hours waits for morning in each subscriber's time zone, with state windows built in. Plain-language opt-outs act on their own instead of prompting a STOP.
Best for email and SMS in one tool
Every campaign recipient is checked at send time and held or skipped, your choice. Consent timestamps sit on each profile and in exports, and consent writes back to Shopify.
Best for a multi-channel CRM team
Quiet hours hold campaigns and journeys in each user's local time across SMS, email and push. You set the window yourself: one per channel, which Braze suggests running 8 p.m. to noon for a US audience.

Attentive and five alternatives, eight requirements
The first three rows are about sending hours, and the second is this page's own: whether a scheduled campaign is held or skipped for each recipient inside quiet hours, or sent with a warning. Then opt-out, the consent record, and the two Shopify rows. The 10DLC row is left out: which number type you send from is a separate choice, covered in 10DLC vs toll-free. "Our pick" marks the best-overall verdict; Attentive's column is the baseline.

Quiet hours: hold or flag
Every tool here has quiet hours. The difference is what happens to a campaign you schedule into them: Attentive sends it and warns you first; the others hold it, skip it or abort it, recipient by recipient. Here is each tool's documented behaviour.
| Tool | Scheduled campaign in quiet hours | Journeys and flows | State windows | Whose clock |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AttentiveFlags | "Quiet hours don't apply to scheduled campaigns": it sends at the time you chose and shows a reminder first if that time falls in quiet hours or a state window. | Journey messages set to respect quiet hours queue until they end. AI Journeys run 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. local; their cart messages may fall outside. | Optional switch: FL, OK, OR, MD, WA 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.; CT 8 p.m. to 9 a.m.; TX 9 p.m. to 9 a.m., Sunday to noon. | IP address from a click or sign-up, then the area code, then the company's time zone. |
| PostscriptHolds | Holds a campaign sent or scheduled into quiet hours until waking hours begin in the subscriber's time zone. | Held the same way. | Built in: FL, CT, MD, OK, WA 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; NJ 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; TX must be switched on. | The phone number. |
| KlaviyoHolds or skips | Delay (the default) holds each caught text until quiet hours end, with an optional maximum wait; Skip drops it. | Wait in a queue; the recipient pauses in the flow. | Optional US state-level quiet hours with the area-code setting. | The profile's location and time zone; flows can use the area code. |
| BrazeHolds or aborts | Campaign-level quiet hours hold the send until the window closes. The workspace default (early access) aborts a fixed-time scheduled send. | A Canvas aborts or sends at the next available time, your choice. | None built in: one window per channel, no weekday variation. Braze suggests 8 p.m. to 12 p.m. for a US national audience. | Each user's local time zone. |
| SendlaneHolds or skips | Texts due between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. go out when quiet hours end, or are skipped if you tick the box. | Not described in its automation guide. | One window, 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. | Shipping or billing zip, then area code, then click IP, then the country default. |
| RecartHolds | Delays a campaign that falls in quiet hours; the builder and the pre-send summary say so. | Promotional flows wait for 9 a.m.; the legal welcome text, receipts and HELP replies still go. | One fixed window, 8 p.m. to 9 a.m., for every subscriber. | The subscriber's time zone, else the store's. |
Each tool's behaviour as its own help page describes it on 2026-10-22. Sources are on the vendor cards below.
A flag works only if the person scheduling reads it and moves the send. Attentive's own example shows the trap: a campaign sent at a "specific time of day" lands at 12:30 Eastern and 9:30 Pacific at once. Turn that round and a 5:30 p.m. Pacific flash sale reaches a Miami or Baltimore number at 8:30 p.m. Eastern. That is inside the federal 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. window and after the 8 p.m. close in both Florida and Maryland.
Florida ends commercial telephone solicitation phone calls at 8 p.m. in the called person's time zone and allows no more than three on the same subject in 24 hours (Fla. Stat. § 501.616(6)). That section speaks of phone calls; whether it reaches texts is a question for counsel, and most texting platforms apply it to texts. Oklahoma bars solicitations before 8 a.m. or after 8 p.m. in the called person's time zone (15 O.S. § 775C.4(A)), and Maryland between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. in the called party's time zone (Md. Code, Com. Law § 14-4502(c)); both statutes' consent definitions name text messages. All three also cap solicitations at three to the same person in 24 hours on the same subject, so a held campaign that releases at 8 a.m. beside a cart text and a follow-up is worth counting.
A hold or a skip makes the platform apply the window to every recipient, every time. A flag leaves it to one person on one evening. Check any single number with the quiet-hours checker; the state statutes are set out in the mini-TCPA guide.
Leaving Attentive: read the export first
Attentive's segment export carries one status per number. Nine values mean nine different things, and only one of them is a subscriber you can text from the new tool.
| SMS Marketing Status | What Attentive says it means | Carry it as |
|---|---|---|
| ACTIVE | Fully opted in to marketing texts. | Subscribed |
| JOINED | Started the sign-up flow but never confirmed. | Leave out |
| NONE | Signed up for email only. | Leave out |
| DECLINED | Used a reference code another subscriber had already used. | Leave out |
| SUSPENDED | Manually opted out of marketing texts. | Opted out |
| TERMINATED | Submitted a data deletion request. | Leave out |
| DEACTIVATED | The carrier says the number is no longer active. | Leave out |
| REASSIGNED | The number has changed owners. | Leave out |
| LITIGIOUS | Matches a known litigator list, or was flagged as one by hand. | Ask counsel |
Status values from Attentive's export article, read 2026-10-22. The last column is our suggestion, not Attentive's.
Three things the file will not do for you. It has no opt-in date column, only the number, the status and an "SMS Marketing Opted Out" true-or-false flag, so the date and sign-up unit on each Attentive profile are the record of when and how consent was given; ask your Attentive contact what consent history you can take with you before the contract ends. Attentive's own note warns that list exports may include people who have opted out and numbers on its known-litigator list, so filter on the status and opted-out columns rather than treating the file as a send list. And the opted-out numbers belong in the new tool too, as unsubscribed: a revocation must be honoured within ten business days, and a number left off the new tool's block list can be texted again on day one.
What a consent record should hold is set out in prior express written consent, and the reply words every tool must catch in SMS opt-out keywords.

Klaviyo
What it is
An email and SMS platform that checks every campaign recipient against quiet hours at send time and lets you choose, per campaign, whether a caught message waits or is dropped.
Who it fits
Brands that want email and texts in one tool, on Shopify or another store platform, with consent dates they can export.
- Quiet-hours window by the recipient's time zoneYes
Each recipient is checked against quiet hours using the location and time zone on their profile.
- Holds or skips a scheduled campaign inside each recipient's quiet hoursYes
Delay (the default) holds the text until quiet hours end, with an optional maximum wait; Skip drops it for that recipient.

SMS subscription status changes in Klaviyo update the Shopify customer.
Braze
What it is
A customer engagement platform for large consumer brands: SMS beside email, push and in-app messages, with quiet hours set per campaign or Canvas (journey), or as one workspace default per channel.
Who it fits
Brands with an in-house CRM team running several channels, ready to set state windows themselves: one window per channel, no state or weekday variation.
- Quiet-hours window by the recipient's time zoneYes
Quiet hours apply in each user's local time zone, per campaign or Canvas, or as a workspace default (early access).
- Holds or skips a scheduled campaign inside each recipient's quiet hoursYes
Campaign-level quiet hours hold the send until the window closes. The workspace default aborts a fixed-time scheduled send instead of holding it.

A Canvas with quiet hours on either aborts a message or sends it at the next available time, your choice.
- Honours STOP and plain-language revocation automaticallyCheck with the vendor

How we read the claims
Questions brands ask before switching
Does Attentive hold a scheduled campaign during quiet hours?
No. Its quiet-hours article says quiet hours don't apply to scheduled campaigns: the campaign sends at the time you choose, and you see a reminder before it goes out if that time falls inside your quiet hours or, with State Quiet Hours on, a state window. Journey messages are different: each can be set to respect quiet hours and is queued until they end.
Which Attentive alternatives hold campaigns instead of flagging them?
All five on this page do something per recipient. Postscript and Recart hold the text until morning. Klaviyo delays it by default or skips it if you choose. Sendlane holds it until 8 a.m. or skips those contacts. Braze holds it with campaign-level quiet hours, while its workspace default aborts a fixed-time scheduled send.
Will a new tool catch opt-outs that don't say STOP?
Under the rule in force, other words count if a reasonable person would understand them as a request to revoke consent, and a revocation must be honoured within ten business days (47 CFR § 64.1200(a)(10)). Attentive replies to such messages asking the subscriber to text STOP. Postscript, Klaviyo and Recart opt them out automatically. Braze's fuzzy opt-out is off by default, and Sendlane leaves them to you. The FCC adopted an order (FCC 26-67) on 30 September 2026 that would let a sender name one exclusive way to revoke; as of 22 October 2026 it was not yet in effect.
What should we export from Attentive before we switch?
A segment CSV (Segments, then Download CSV) with the SMS Marketing Status and SMS Marketing Opted Out columns. Attentive describes its subscriber-type options as people currently opted in, yet warns that list exports may include opted-out numbers, so filter on those two columns. Import ACTIVE numbers as subscribed; leave out numbers that never confirmed, were deactivated or were reassigned; and ask Attentive for a full opt-out list and whatever consent history you can keep, because the file has no opt-in date.
What sending hours are safe in every state?
Among the states whose statutes we read, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the recipient's time zone, Monday to Saturday, and noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday clears all of them. The federal rule alone allows 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Florida, Oklahoma, Maryland and Washington close at 8 p.m., Connecticut runs 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Texas starts Sundays at noon.
