PhoneBurner alternatives, and what to take with you when you switch
5 alternatives and the baselineVendor claims read 2026-10-22
For the owner or sales lead whose team calls consumers from PhoneBurner and is weighing a move. PhoneBurner is the first column, read from its own help centre like the five dialers after it, all on 2026-10-22. The rows are the calling rules a dialer can enforce for you; the section after them lists what PhoneBurner holds today and the path out for each piece, so nothing the law cares about stays behind. The wider field sits in the power dialer comparison.
Verdict by use case
Best overall alternative
The closest like-for-like switch: a one-line PowerDialer, calling hours read from the area code much as PhoneBurner reads the number, and recording that skips two-party states, which PhoneBurner does not do. Its registry check is an estimate, so keep a real scrub.
Best for keeping opt-outs through the move
A do-not-contact mark or a STOP reply covers every number on the contact and is stored so a delete, a re-import or a HubSpot sync cannot clear it. It runs no registry scrub, so budget for one.
Best for teams moving past one line
Power mode keeps one call per agent, and predictive is there when the team grows. Its DNC import keeps the date each number was added, if you fill that column from your PhoneBurner export.

PhoneBurner and five alternatives
Six rows are about dialing: one line per rep, a manual mode, the 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. window, the internal do-not-call list, the national registry and caller ID. The last three are about recordings, because a switch is when recordings go missing. PhoneBurner is the first column and is not ranked; "Our pick" marks the best-overall alternative.
Every alternative matches PhoneBurner on one line per rep, a manual mode and an internal list (why the mode matters is in the TCPA-compliant auto dialer comparison). The gaps are elsewhere: only PhoneBurner and Readymode document a check against the national registry itself, and only Kixie and CallHub change recording for calls into all-party consent states.

- Offers a one-line-per-agent mode
- A call answered while no agent is free is abandoned after two seconds; dialing one number per waiting agent keeps that from happening.47 CFR § 64.1200(a)(7)
- Offers an agent-initiated (manual or preview) dialing mode
- Some state laws reach any automated system that selects and dials numbers; an agent-initiated mode keeps leads without written consent out of the predictive queue.Fla. Stat. § 501.059(8)(a) (2026)
- Calling window by the recipient's time zone
- No telephone solicitation before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m. local time at the called party's location.47 CFR § 64.1200(c)(1)
- Keeps an internal do-not-call list for outbound calls
- Telemarketers must record a do-not-call request when it is made and honour it for five years.47 CFR § 64.1200(d)(3), (d)(6)
- Scrubs against the National DNC Registry
- The safe harbor needs a registry copy obtained no more than 31 days before the call.47 CFR § 64.1200(c)(2)(i)(D)
- Sends a caller ID name and number on outbound calls
- Telemarketers must transmit caller ID and never block it; the number shown must take do-not-call requests during business hours.47 CFR § 64.1601(e)
- Changes recording behaviour by the other party's state
- Federal law needs one party's consent; about 11 states need everyone's, and the stricter law can apply across state lines.18 U.S.C. § 2511(2)(d)
- Retention period the account sets
- A business decides how long it keeps recordings; a fixed vendor window means exporting on a schedule.
- Recordings downloadable for your own archive
- The recording is the record; a business should be able to keep it outside the vendor.
What PhoneBurner does for you today
Before choosing a replacement, list what the current tool quietly enforces. These are the controls PhoneBurner documents, with what each one leaves to you. Anything a new dialer does not do on its own becomes a job for a person, and the TCPA compliance checklist is a place to give it an owner.
Calling times
Blocks dials outside 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. by default, judged by the contact's phone number alone. A New York number with a California address is called on New York time. Admins can widen the window.
Leaves to you Stricter state windows, and toll-free numbers, which it never blocks.
PhoneBurner help pageLimit area codes
An allow or block list of area codes for folders and lead streams. PhoneBurner suggests it for emergency laws and holidays that pause calling in a region.
Leaves to you Knowing which areas to block, and keeping the list current.
PhoneBurner help pageInternal do-not-call list
One list for the whole team that the dialer skips, fed by dispositions, the contact record, pasted numbers and STOP replies to texts. Admins choose who may add or remove numbers.
Leaves to you The written do-not-call policy that PhoneBurner's own guide says anyone marketing to consumers by phone or text needs.
PhoneBurner help pageNational registry check
A DNC.com integration checks each number in real time as you dial and skips it by your settings.
Leaves to you A separate subscription with Contact Center Compliance. The check does not mark the contact as DNC inside PhoneBurner.
PhoneBurner help pageAttended dialing
Nothing dials when a call ends until the rep picks a disposition, and Pause and Preview mode stops on every contact before the dial.
Leaves to you Whether a mode counts as an autodialer under your state's law.
PhoneBurner help pagePrerecorded messages
Its terms forbid playing a prerecorded voicemail to a live answer, and abuse ends the account. Click to Present plays a recording only with permission, the rep on the line.
Leaves to you Getting and keeping that permission.
PhoneBurner help pageCall recording
An admin turns recording on for inbound, outbound or both, then per agent. Only calls logged as live answers are recorded.
Leaves to you Calls into all-party consent states: no by-state setting is described.
PhoneBurner help pageLocal presence and caller name
Local Presence picks the pool number closest to the contact's area code, after an application and a KYC check. A caller name is registered free for ARMOR-protected numbers.
Leaves to you Owning a real presence where the numbers point: PhoneBurner warns that numbers bought to suggest otherwise may break the Truth in Caller ID Act.
PhoneBurner help pageWhat to recreate when you switch
Eight things PhoneBurner holds for you, where each lives, the export path out of PhoneBurner and what the new dialer needs. Pick a destination to read the last column for that vendor. Export everything before you cancel: PhoneBurner gives no guarantee that data is kept after cancellation, and each export file can be downloaded for 7 days.
The do-not-call list goes first. A request has to be honoured within 10 business days and kept for 5 years. Bring the date each number was added: without it, the new tool's import date becomes the only record of when the request came in. Text opt-outs travel inside the same list in PhoneBurner, so load them as text opt-outs on the other side too; the opt-out keywords guide lists the reply words carriers treat as STOP.
Moving to
8 things to carry, last column read for any dialer
| What you carry | In PhoneBurner today | Export path | On the new dialer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Internal do-not-call list | Settings, DNC: one list for the whole team, fed by dispositions, the contact record, pasted numbers and STOP replies. | No download of the list itself is described. Advanced Search, Management Information, DNC = Yes, then Actions, Export (CSV). PhoneBurner says whole-contact DNC flags do not show in the contact manager, so ask support how to include them. | Load every number before the first dial session, with the date each request was made: a request is honoured for 5 years from the time it was made. |
| Text opt-outs | A STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END or QUIT reply blocks texts and adds the number to the account's DNC list. There is no separate opt-out flag. | They leave inside the DNC export above. The SMS Opt Out webhook (Settings, Integrations, Web Hooks) sends each opt-out to another system as it happens. | Load them as text opt-outs, not only as call blocks, so nobody texts them from the new numbers. |
| Call recordings | Kept 30 days, 90 days or with no limit, depending on the plan. Only calls logged as live answers are recorded. | Call History, pick dates, View Summary, select the sessions, Export Zip File with Recordings (a CSV plus the audio). Team admins: Team, Reports. Each export can be downloaded for 7 days. | Export before you cancel: PhoneBurner gives no guarantee that data is kept after cancellation. Then set the new tool's retention on purpose. |
| Dial-session history | Call History: every session, with the reason any contact was skipped (DNC, invalid number or outside the call time). | Call History, View Summary, select the sessions, Export Dial-Sessions (CSV). | Keep it beside the DNC export: together they show which numbers were called, when, and what was logged. |
| Consent dates and lead sources | No consent field of its own. Teams use custom fields (text, checkbox, date selector, drop-down) and the Lead Source picked at import. | Contacts, select, Actions, Export; or Team, Reports for all active users (CSV). The export article does not list its columns, so open one file and confirm your custom fields are in it. | Map each consent column to a real field on import, never to notes, and keep the number, the date and the source of each consent together. |
| Calling window and area-code limits | Dial Session Settings, Calling Times (8 a.m. to 9 p.m. by default, read from the phone number only) and Limit Area Codes (allow or block lists). | Settings, not data: write down the window and every allowed or blocked area code. | Set the window again and find out which clock the new tool reads: the number, the address or a CRM field. |
| Local presence and caller name | Number pools set to Local Presence (after an application and KYC approval), the last number each contact saw reused, and a caller name registered for ARMOR-protected numbers. | Nothing to export. Moving numbers bought through PhoneBurner is not covered in its help centre: ask before you cancel. | Register the caller name again on the new numbers, and list them with the carriers' free registry. |
| Recording rules | An admin turns recording on for inbound, outbound or both, then per agent, and decides whether agents may change it. | A setting: note who records and in which direction. | Decide what happens on calls into all-party consent states before the first session. |
Two things no export carries
The registry check and the caller name both belong to someone else. PhoneBurner's registry scrub is a DNC.com subscription that never writes back into your contacts, so the new dialer needs its own source for a registry copy no older than 31 days; the DNC scrubbing comparison covers stand-alone options. PhoneBurner registers caller names only for its own ARMOR-protected numbers, so register again on the new numbers and list them in the Free Caller Registry; branded display beyond a plain caller name is in the branded caller ID comparison.
Recording rules change too. If the new tool records calls into all-party states, check its setting against the call recording consent map before the first session.
Vendor by vendor
Each card repeats the table's rows with the detail from the vendor's own page.
PhoneBurner
What it is
A cloud power dialer that calls a contact list one number at a time and moves on only when the rep logs the result of each call. The column every alternative here is read against.
Who it fits

- Offers a one-line-per-agent modeYes
An attended dialer: nothing dials when a call ends until the rep picks a disposition.
- Offers an agent-initiated (manual or preview) dialing modeYes
Pause and Preview mode stops on each contact; the rep dials or skips.
- Calling window by the recipient's time zoneYes
8 a.m. to 9 p.m. by default, read from the contact's phone number; admins can widen it. Toll-free numbers are not blocked.
- Keeps an internal do-not-call list for outbound callsYes
A team-wide list the dialer skips, fed from call results, the contact record, manual entry and STOP replies to texts.
- Scrubs against the National DNC RegistryYes
Through a DNC.com integration that checks as you dial; a separate subscription.

Registers a caller name (CNAM, 15 characters) for numbers on its ARMOR service, at no charge.
- Changes recording behaviour by the other party's stateCheck with the vendor
Recording is switched on per rep and call direction; a by-state setting is not described.
- Retention period the account setsNo
Recordings are kept 30 days, 90 days or with no limit, depending on the plan; the account does not pick the period.
- Recordings downloadable for your own archiveYes
Export Zip File with Recordings from Call History: a CSV of the sessions plus the audio.
Kixie
What it is
A cloud phone and texting tool that runs inside HubSpot, Salesforce and other CRMs. Its PowerDialer works through PowerLists on one line or on several.
Who it fits
CRM-based sales teams that want a one-line dialer close to PhoneBurner's, plus recording that skips two-party states.
- Offers a one-line-per-agent modeYes
The PowerDialer 1 add-on dials one number at a time; the 4, 10 and AI Human Detect tiers dial several.
- Offers an agent-initiated (manual or preview) dialing modeYes
Click-to-call and manual dialing beside the PowerDialer.
- Calling window by the recipient's time zoneYes
PowerList Target Hours in each contact's time zone, taken from the number's area code.
- Keeps an internal do-not-call list for outbound callsYes
Managers keep a blocked-numbers list, set per contact method.
- Scrubs against the National DNC RegistryCheck with the vendor
A paid add-on blocks numbers Kixie's own algorithm judges likely to be on the registry, with no warranty of accuracy.
- Sends a caller ID name and number on outbound callsYes
An outbound caller ID name per agent; the recipient's carrier may show its own lookup instead.
- Changes recording behaviour by the other party's stateYes
Two Party mode stops recording outbound calls to area codes in two-party consent states.
- Retention period the account setsYes
Kept for life while the account is active; support can switch on auto-delete after a number of days you choose.

Agents download from Call History in the dialer; managers play them from the dashboard.
Aloware
What it is
A cloud contact centre for sales teams, built around HubSpot and other CRMs, with a power dialer, sequences and texting. It says it offers no predictive dialer by choice.
Who it fits
Teams that text and call the same contacts and need an opt-out to hold across every number, every agent and every re-import.
- Offers a one-line-per-agent modeYes
The power dialer calls leads one by one and cannot place several calls at once.
- Offers an agent-initiated (manual or preview) dialing modeYes
Calls placed by hand from the phone icon, the inbox or a contact record.
- Calling window by the recipient's time zoneYes
Power dialer open and close times, with Skip outside daytime hours. The time zone comes from your CRM, else the area code.
- Keeps an internal do-not-call list for outbound callsYes
Do Not Contact blocks calls and texts on every number of a contact, and the status survives deletes and re-imports.
- Scrubs against the National DNC RegistryNo
Its own page says it does not scrub lists against the National Do Not Call Registry.
- Sends a caller ID name and number on outbound callsYes
An admin registers a caller name per line; review takes up to 48 hours.
- Changes recording behaviour by the other party's stateCheck with the vendor
Inbound and outbound recording are set to always or never; a by-state rule is not described.
- Retention period the account setsYes
Indefinite by default, or automatic deletion after 10, 30 or 60 days, for the company or per line.
- Recordings downloadable for your own archiveYes
Download from the contact's communication history or the transcript view.
Readymode
What it is
A cloud dialer with a built-in CRM that runs preview, power, progressive and predictive modes from the same campaigns.
Who it fits
Teams that start on one line per agent and expect to add predictive dialing, with registry and wireless checks done as the dialer dials.
- Offers a one-line-per-agent modeYes
Its power mode places one concurrent call per agent; progressive and predictive dial more.
- Offers an agent-initiated (manual or preview) dialing modeYes
Preview mode needs the agent to dial each call.
- Calling window by the recipient's time zoneYes
With State Calling Restrictions on, a record outside its local window is skipped and deferred until the window opens.
- Keeps an internal do-not-call list for outbound callsYes
Numbers on the list are not called by the dialer, but agents can still dial them by hand.
- Scrubs against the National DNC RegistryYes
Risk Management, a paid add-on, scrubs against the National DNC at upload and again just before the dialer calls a number.
- Sends a caller ID name and number on outbound callsYes
Proximity matching by area code, city or state; a caller ID name is set up by Technical Support.
- Changes recording behaviour by the other party's stateCheck with the vendor
Record all calls is locked on by default; changes go through Readymode's compliance team. A by-state setting is not described.
- Retention period the account setsCheck with the vendor

How we read the claims
Questions switchers ask
Can I take my PhoneBurner do-not-call list with me?
Yes, through a search rather than a download. In Advanced Search, filter Management Information for DNC = Yes and export the contacts that come back as a CSV. PhoneBurner says contacts flagged DNC as a whole do not show the flag in the contact manager, so ask its support how to include those before you cancel. A do-not-call request is honoured for 5 years from the time it was made (47 CFR § 64.1200(d)(6)), so carry the date each number was added, not just the number.
Does my DNC.com registry scrub come with me?
Not inside PhoneBurner's export. The DNC.com link is a separate subscription with Contact Center Compliance; it checks numbers as you dial and does not mark them DNC in PhoneBurner, so nothing from it sits in your contact file. Whether your DNC.com plan connects to the new dialer is a question for DNC.com. Of the alternatives here, only Readymode documents a registry scrub inside the dialer, as a paid add-on; Kixie's add-on is an estimate of likely registered numbers, and Aloware says it runs no registry scrub. The safe harbor needs a registry copy no more than 31 days old (47 CFR § 64.1200(c)(2)(i)(D)).
What happens to my call recordings when I cancel PhoneBurner?
PhoneBurner says there is no guarantee data is kept after cancellation, and recordings only live 30 days, 90 days or without limit depending on the plan. Export the dial sessions with the Zip File with Recordings option first, and download each export within 7 days. Check the new tool's rule too: Kixie removes recordings from its platform when an account is cancelled, and Close keeps them 30 days on its entry plans.
Will my local numbers and caller name follow me?
Plan on doing both again. PhoneBurner's help centre does not describe moving numbers you bought through it, so ask before you cancel. Its free caller name registration covers only PhoneBurner's own ARMOR-protected numbers. On the new dialer, register a caller name for each number, set up its local presence, and list the numbers with the carriers' free caller registry, which PhoneBurner itself points to for numbers it does not own.
Which alternative reads a contact's time zone the way PhoneBurner does?
PhoneBurner uses the phone number alone and ignores the address. Kixie is closest: PowerList hours run on the time zone of the number's area code. Aloware takes the time zone from your CRM first and falls back to the area code. CallHub reads ZIP code, then state, then area code, for US contacts. Readymode skips records outside the local window once State Calling Restrictions is on. Close only filters the calling list by local time, so a new list built without the filter has no window at all.
Should we run both dialers for a while?
Only with one shared do-not-call list. A request taken in the old dialer still has to be honoured within 10 business days (47 CFR § 64.1200(d)(3)), and two tools with two lists drift apart the first day someone forgets to copy a number across. Move the list first, then switch off the old tool's dialing, then cancel once the exports are safe.
